Our once favourite local Japanese hot spot – Oishii

Hello guys I wanted to make a food post, I am a very fussy eater and was surrounded by rubbish food places back where I lived and where I currently live but there was one place that stuck in my memory where me and my best friend used to go to before it sadly closed down – Oishii. I have no idea why they closed down and we was gutted when they did because this place had a lovely cosy, romantic atmosphere and the food was amazing, I had many memories at this place from when I was a child to birthday celebrations and family meals.

This lovely little place did a range of rice and noodle dishes, soups, sushi and bento boxes, they hands down had THE best salt and pepper chicken I ever had, as a person who is familiar with Chinese food who has tried this dish from many restaurants and take away’s, It was good! I personally found their chicken katsu curry better than Wagamama’s too. As you can see their dishes were served with class.

They did not just have the traditional Japanese dishes, they made their own inventions such as the duck dish displayed in the slideshow above called “Sha Sha” duck, this dish was made with a special sauce and I wish I knew what was in it, it tasted of satay sauce with a hint of plum, hoisin and chilli – it was gorgeous! I am one who hates generic/typical take away/westernised south east Asian food and this was such a lovely spot, me and my friend even used to order from them when we had our down days or was in need for a “pick me up”. My search for a new Japanese/Chinese hot spot (besides Wagamama and corporate chains) is still going and if you guys have any suggestions please drop a comment below! I hope that you enjoyed this post.

It’s always so sad when your favourite place gets closed down. We always try to go to independent restaurants to help support the local community and keep them open. / Anna x (one half of the Cinnamonbuns and Roses blog)

Same here and I know, there are too many chains and corporates swallowing small business
